Paul Sanford Officially Announces Campaign for Senate District 7
12/12/2008
Huntsville native Paul Sanford yesterday announced his candidacy for the Alabama Senate in District 7 in the Republican Primary to be held on March 3, 2009. The special election has been called by Governor Riley to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Senator Parker Griffith who was elected to Congress last month.
During his announcement held at Gibson’s Barbecue on Memorial Parkway, Mr. Sanford said he decided to run because, "we need fresh faces and new ideas in government at every level." He also said the state is facing an economic crisis, adding, "We don’t have time to waste in confronting these issues. What this means is electing people who are serious about working to make government more efficient and streamlined."
Paul Sanford is a native of Huntsville where his family has been in the restaurant business (Gibson’s Barbecue) for many years. In 2001, Mr. Sanford formed Sanford Restaurant Group, Inc., and in May 2002, he opened Little Paul’s Barbecue. He is married to Danielle McCuan Sanford of Birmingham, and they have two children, Chase and Ryan.
